Everton closing in on Liverpool target

Everton has leapfrogged West Ham, Queens Park Rangers, and cross-town rivals Liverpool in being the front-runners to sign Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic.

The Toffees, who have scored only 22 goals this season a total that is only higher than bottom-club Wigan are in search for a finisher with a proven pedigree and Jelavic offers an affordable option to cover their needs.
