Liverpool are now one step closer to reaching the Carling Cup Final after an impressive display at Etihad Stadium. Liverpool were by far the better team in the first half, keeping possession well and creating chances.
They were rewarded in the 11th minute when Daniel Agger was fouled in the box by Stefan Savic.
