Pepe Reina flubbed what should have been a fairly simple stop off a Sergio Aguero drive. Liverpool dominated possession thereafter but it was City once again going up through Yaya Toure's header at the half an hour mark.

Gerrard and Craig Bellamy were introduced by Kenny Dalglish after an hour and Liverpool looked more mobile going forward although they failed to look threatening in the final third once again.
