Fergie looking after the present and future

For much of the 90 minutes at Anfield on Saturday there was a feeling of unfulfilled excitement and expectation.

The game, billed as the best in the World 24 hours earlier by sir Alex Ferguson, proved to be one of those occasions where passions run high, but nerves and a failure to get a grip on the game results in a highly-charged stalemate.
