Sporting 3 - Rio Ave 2
Oguchi Onyewu was the difference for Sporting on Monday, starting and scoring in the 74th minute to send all three points Sporting's way. Sporting opened the scoring with two quick goals in the 2nd (Stijn Schaars) and 3rd minutes (Ricky van Wolfswinkel), taking a 2-0 lead into halftime. Rio Ave cut that in half in the 49th and equalized in the 63rd minute.
