Taking the Field After Sept. 11
Oct. 7, 2001, is a day that lives in U.S. Soccer history on many levels. Being the first team to represent the United States in international competition since Sept. 11, the U.S. pulled out a thrilling 2-1 victory against Jamaica, and with the other results in CONCACAF qualifying improbably going their way, the team qualified for the 2002 FIFA World Cup that day.
