Liverpool legend hails new signing

Tommy Smith, the legendary Liverpool defender who won four domestic championships in his 16-year stay at the Merseyside club, has tipped summer signing Stewart Downing to revive the team's fortunes.

The Reds, who haven't been crowned the champions in over two decades, strengthened their squad with a host of signings this summer, including promising young midfielders such as Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam.
