For the first time in its 110-year history, River Plate has been relegated after being held to a 1-1 draw on Sunday in the second leg of a relegation playoff against Belgrano. It all started brightly for Los Millonarios, who were seeking to overturn a 2-0 deficit from the first leg, as Mariano Pavone found the back of the net in the opening minutes.
