United, Dallas play to scoreless draw
By THOMAS FLOYD
WASHINGTON - Resolute defending controlled the proceedings as D.C. United and FC Dallas played to a scoreless draw Saturday that was largely devoid of risks in the attacking third and, concurrently, quality scoring opportunities for either side.
United nearly won the contest in the 89th minute when Dallas goalkeeper Kevin Hartman denied substitute Fred's point-blank header at the far post.
