With the first knockout phase over it's on to the quarter-finals and the lone Italian representation (disputable by some) will have to face those Bundesliga upstarts Schalke 04. Currently Schalke are having a difficult time in their domestic league, sitting mid-table at tenth place, ready to slide further as Koln and Wender Bremen just one point behind, nip at their heels.
