At the end of last month I broke a story about a deal in place with a retail mogul, and the fact that the deal was expiring in the next 18 months meant that the club had appointed a new retail director.

The following day Guardian journalist Matt Scott used information put into the public domain by this website and for once, a blog was formally recognised in a mainstream newspaper.
