SPL penalties statistics for Old Firm
I felt that the Old Firm deserved a post of their own, apologies to fans of other teams but if you want a post of your own, do just ask! The highlights from the last 3+ seasons in the SPL, with regards to the Old Firm:
- Celtic have been awarded 21 penalties (11 away)
- Rangers have been awarded 27 penalties (12 away)
- Celtic have a 52% conversion rate
- Rangers have a 93% conversation rate
- Celtic have conceded 11 penalties (3 at home)
- Rangers have conceded 11 penalties (2 at home)
- Celtic's opposition have a 82% conversion rate
- Rangers' opposition have a 64% conversion rate
The conversion rates might explain some of the inconsistencies that people believe Rangers get a huge number of penalties more than everybody else, Rangers have the highest conversion rate over that period of time, while their opposition has the worst against any team.
