Are Boro Still In With A Shout?

Why are people giving up on Middlesbrough's Play-Off chances? With six games remaining and still in touching distance of teams in fifth and sixth we do have a chance of making an impact on our mediocre season.

I don't understand why fans and pundits are throwing the towel in already.
