Players cost West Ham £34m
The state of the English Premiere League is similar to the current housing market. Every franchise is worth less than what the owners paid for it. Everyone from Manchester United to Portsmouth are reporting financial difficulties. However, West Ham has been suffering prior to the credit crunch. The once prosperous club was known for bringing up some of England's hottest young talent.
