American Abroad: Everton Wins In Europa
Everton got the home win in their Europa League series with Sporting Lisbon, taking a 2-1 lead into the second-leg. Steven Plenaar scored in the 35th-minute and Sylvain Distin followed in the 49th. Distin was red-carded in the 86th and Miguel Veloso converted the ensuing penalty for Sporting's goal. Tim Howard and Landon Donovan played the full-ninety for Everton.
