After two quick scores by the Blue Devil's Haley Carifi and Brittany Lajoie it looked as if the rout was on. Even though Winter Haven dominated the possession and Lake Gibson rarely got the ball into Winter Haven's territory Lake Gibson did not give up. On a break away that seemed to be stopped by the Blue Devil's, Gibson Senior Maddison Dixon intercepted a hurried pass from a Winter Haven Defender and slipped the ball past the Blue Devil keeper to cut the lead to 2 to 1 and make a game of it at 21 minutes remaining in the first half.
