The United States bounced back from their opening game loss, beating Malawi 1-0 on Thursday at Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, Nigeria. In a game dominated by the USA, it would take 54 minutes for them to get a goal. Alex Shinsky put a rebound through the legs of Malawi keeper Cuthbert Seengwa for the game winner.
