Arsenal came through a tricky tie in the Carling Cup to secure their place in the fourth round. West Brom played well and if it hadn't been for a moment of petulance from Jerome Thomas forcing referee Lee Mason to reduce the Baggies to ten men in the 37th minute then the game might have been a lot tighter.
