Tottenham and Sunderland have failed to agree a loan swap involving Anton Ferdinand and Alan Hutton, according to Sky Sports sources.

Spurs had been looking to bolster their options in central defence following injuries to Michael Dawson and Jonathan Woodgate earlier in the summer.
