The English Carling Cup began its second round of play with several Americans playing in matches on Tuesday August 25, 2009. The most noticable was recent Hull City signee Jozy Altidore who scord his first goal for the club. Other Americans playing were Jonathan Spector for West Ham, Marcus Hahnemann for Wolverhampton, and Mike Grella for Leeds United.
