Benfica and FC Porto open the season with draws

Benfica opened their season at home against Maritimo with a 1-1 draw as the Eagles dominated just about the entire game and only a first half penaly taken by Alonso had Maritimo up at the half. Maritimo's keeper kept Benfica at bay with some key stops in the second half even foiling Benfica's Cardozo on a penalty kick before Weldon gave Benfica the equalizer.
