Benfica fined €40,000 for lying
In the long ago time of May 2009 when this grueling, mind-numbing dead period known as summer was just a cloud on the horizon Benfica issued a statement saying they had no interest in Brazilian midfielder Ramires. So, of course, the very next day they signed him.
The only problem is that the Portuguese stock market (CMVM) didn't think this was so cool of them, and threatened to fine them up to €2.
