Sunderland's lengthy pursuit of Darren Bent could soon bear fruit after the Tottenham striker flew north to tie up a £14m move, BBC Sport understands.
The 25-year-old has long been a target for Black Cats boss Steve Bruce but the two clubs have, until recently, failed to reach agreement over the fee.
