Man City setting the bar for decadence
Given the record prices Real Madrid have paid for the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka, the excessive amounts of money being spent by Manchester City on their new players' transfer fees and wages has been somewhat glossed over.
But last night, in at his palace in Abu Dhabi, City owner Sheikh Mansour made absolutely sure that his complete disregard for the value of money and the general conventions of civilized society would no longer go unnoticed by giving every member of his team including new signings Gareth Barry, Roque Santa Cruz, and Carlos Tevez (three players he has already drowned in wealth this summer) special edition Franck Muller watches (not necessarily the one pictured above) worth £168,000.
