Real Madrid set to walk away from possible Alonso transfer
Apparently Real Madrid do have a limit when it comes to spending loads of funds on world class transfers. That would seem to be the case with Xabi Alonso. The Liverpool midfielder was being valued at £35m by Rafa just this week, and whilst we all hoped Real Madrid wouldn't bite on the price, some of us (myself included) wondered if they'd splash the cash once again for someone who could "channel the play" on the pitch.
