Was Ferguson’s rejection a blessing in disguise?


Scotland legend Jim Leighton told reporters yesterday that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was close to becoming Arsenal boss in 1986. "We were in Santa Fe before we actually went into Mexico and Sir Alex was offered the Arsenal job, and George Graham would have been his assistant," said Leighton.
