Back from a lengthy hiatus following Stoke City's unlikely season of Premiership survival, one of our earliest correspondents Gavin Finney returns with some thoughts on the Barcelona footballing model and wonders why English clubs can't adopt something similar. A direct line can be traced back to the late 1970s with Johan Cruyff as a player to Johan Cruyff as a manager to one of his dream team players Pep Guardiola guiding the current triple winners, many of whom likely remain in the club to teach the next generation of Barcelona prodigies.
