FIRE 1, N.Y. RED BULLS 0
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. - The Chicago Fire weren't purposely looking for another defensive challenge, but
they created one Sunday during their home opener against the New York Red Bulls.
Chicago (2-0-1) overcame an early John Thorrington red card and subsequent one-man disadvantage.
Then Marco Pappa (left) scored a shorthanded first-half goal as the Fire topped the Red Bulls, 1-0,
in Major League Soccer action at Toyota Park in front of 11,633.
