D.C. United Season Review: Head coach Ben Olsen

Black and Red United at related • 0 views

From nearly being replaced to MLS Coach of the Year, it has been a wild year for United's Ben Olsen.

It's hard to remember how things felt around D.C. United a year ago. The stadium deal was on the ropes. The roster overhaul hadn't started yet. The fever dream that was the 2013 US Open Cup was tremendous fun, but it only momentarily distracted from the fact that United didn't win a single league match after August 3rd, a run in which United scored one or zero goals in eleven of twelve games.

MLS Re-Entry Draft: D.C. United passes on Stage 2

Black and Red United at related • 0 views

It wasn't a good pool of RED candidates, and United joined most clubs in opting to pass. Several picks were made, however.

The odds of D.C. United selecting someone in this year's Re-Entry Draft were always going to be low once the pool of candidates was revealed to be pretty weak. It comes as no surprise to report that United ended up passing in today's Stage 2, a round in which teams can pick players up and negotiate a new, lower-cost contract.

D.C. United season review: Defender Conor Shanosky

We take time to look at D.C. United's third homegrown player, Conor Shanosky.

Conor Shanosky's post was supposed to go up yesterday, but I think that something got in the way of that. The team's third homegrown player has already had his option declined, and it doesn't seem like United will try to re-sign him because there basically isn't a lower rate to which they can.

MLS Re-Entry Draft: D.C. United passes in Stage One, as do most teams

20 teams had a chance to make a selection in Stage One of the Re-Entry Draft, but as per usual "pass" was the most popular choice.

In a completely unsurprising development, D.C. United joined sixteen other MLS clubs in opting to pass in today's stage of the Re-Entry Draft. Selecting someone in Stage One obliges the club to pick up their contract as it is today, and historically this has discouraged selections.
