With all of the moves that D.C. United have made so far this offseason (and especially this week), speculation naturally turns to how the team will fit all of these players into their lineup.

Happy Boxing Day, for the very few of you who read this blog and celebrate that particular holiday. With recent speculation that Google will be coming in hard for Major League Soccer's TV rights when they become available after the 2014 season, we take stock of the playing field as negotiations between the league and its various TV partners are set to begin.

I'm a few days late on this, but I think this news still merits some discussion.

We are barely halfway through the off-season, with plenty more signings, drafts, and trades yet to come; however, that shouldn't prevent us from evaluating everyone so far!

Soccer By Ives reporting that Dejan Jakovic has been sold to a team in Japan

Black and Red United at related • 0 views

In a surprising move, it seems as though D.C. United has sold Dejan Jakovic to an unnamed Japanese team for a small fee.

Ives Galarcep, of Soccer By Ives fame, is reporting that D.C. United has sold Canadian center back Dejan Jakovic to an unnamed Japanese team for a small fee. While the allocation money that it generates will be minimal at best, the move does save United almost $300,000 in salary cap charges and makes the reasoning behind Wednesday's selection of Nana Attakora more clear.

It seems to be the conventional wisdom that this year's draft class - kind of like last year's - is not really an exceptionally deep crop like we saw in the 2011 draft that saw Perry Kitchen go #3 and CJ Sapong go tenth overall.

MLS Re-Entry Draft: D.C. United Still Has Options In A Depleted Stage Two

Black and Red United at related • 0 views

Tomorrow's second stage was where most teams - especially United - were expected to make their big splash. Instead, last week's party got out of hand and now the deepest RED pool ever is looking kind of shallow. Nonetheless, there are some nice options for the Black-and-Red's rebuild.

The first stage of the Re-Entry Draft last week was, by far, the most active first stage in the short history of this glorious quasi-free agency mechanism created on a more or less ad hoc basis to avoid a player strike.
