Dynamo Trade for Nathan Sturgis from Toronto FC

Dynamo Theory at related • 1 view

The Dynamo have acquired 24-year old midfielder Nathan Sturgis from Toronto FC in exchange for a conditional MLS SuperDraft pick. Jesus Ortiz broke the news on Twitter.

Sturgis hasn't fit in to Aron Winter's plans in Toronto and he has an extremely reasonable salary which shouldn't hurt the Dynamo's cap space too much.

Dynamo Have Made a Trade and I Have Speculative Theories

The Dynamo have acquired an unknown 24-year old defensive midfielder from an unknown team for a conditional draft pick.

No seriously.

The details came from Jesus Ortiz on Twitter, but that's all we know right now. The player has apparently not been informed of the trade so that's delaying the press release.

Will this trade ever be announced?!...because after all, the waiting is the hardest part.

The Houston Dynamo announced today that centerback Geoff Cameron has been called into the US Men's National Team's annual January camp. This is a whole bundle of good news, the main piece being that the knee injury Cameron sustained in the first half of MLS Cup, the one that kept him from clearing Landon Donovan's chip for the game-winner (and we all know that absent the injury, that would have been cleared, right?

So with the news that that the BBVA Compass name wil be pretty much dominant in our lives for the immediate future (Press conference today at 3 p.m.), let me just say for the record that I am thrilled that BBVA is sponsoring this stadium. That is the bank that provided financing for the deal waaaay back in 2007, and then stuck with the deal through all of the county and city shenanigans.

Say Hello to BBVA Compass Stadium

Several media sources are reporting that the new Dynamo Stadium will be named BBVA Compass Stadium. The deal is reportedly worth $20 million over 10 years for the team, not to shabby but not as much as you might expect. In all likelihood the team sold the best deal they could and will use the next ten season building the brand even more to help get an even bigger second deal in the future, much like they did with the shirt sponsorship.
