LTLF Archives for February 2012
If you read my preview for this, I held out little or no hope for us getting a win so hats off to
Steve Cotterill, his staff and the players for getting a deserved win against a team yet to taste
defeat at home this season. Against a manager who hadn't experienced defeat at all at home in The
Championship [.
Concluding the final part of his assessment of the Nottingham Forest Academy, Grant Nelson asserts
the importance of a link between the Academy and the first team and identifies some of the players
to watch in the future. Recent years for Nottingham Forest have been turbulent at senior level.
First-team managers have come and gone [.
The Reds travel to St Andrews in the West Midlands to try to build upon their first win in six
games at the weekend. There aren't many places less likely to yield a win for us (well, in
fairness, you could probably select most of the top half of the table and find it rather daunting).
However, the thrill of three points and the glad viewing of not being in the relegation zone thanks
to Pompey's fiscal foolishness may have ignited a bit more belief in the Forest camp [.
Our friends over at Football Aid have asked us to thank you for your support so far, and to let you
know that time is running out to bid for your place [...] Read the original post on

Larry Lloyd's Hard Man: Hard Game is one of the best accounts of Forest's golden years
that I have read. I think Lloyd benefits hugely from having a female ghost writer. At the risk of
being sexist, it just allows one of the hardest men I have ever met to admit to all sorts of things
that I am not sure he would if he'd have played it safe and used a male sports journalist to help
him write the book [.
Following last night's dramatic quarter-final exit against Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup, Grant
Nelson continues with the second part of a three-part profile of the Nottingham Forest Academy. In
terms of scouting, Forest have an interest in almost all major countries in Europe from France,
Spain and Germany to the likes of Greece, Cyprus [.
Ahead of tonight's quarter-final against Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup, Grant Nelson kicks off a
three-part profile of the Nottingham Forest Academy and its youth programme. Nottingham Forest FC
have a long and proud history of producing its own footballing talent. From players like Ian
Storey-Moore, Duncan McKenzie, Viv Anderson, Tony Woodcock, John Robertson [.
Following a rousing victory over Coventry City on Saturday, Nottingham Forest are out of the drop
zone for the first time in weeks. Peter Blackburn takes a look at the tactics and players behind
optimism for survival. There have been calls in recent months and years for a fluid Forest side,
playing a 4-2-3-1 formation [.
Coventry hadn't won away all season and, with Forest's form, points were crucial for both teams.

Nottingham Forest 2 Coventry City 0 Phew. What a relief that is results elsewhere combined of
course with the points deduction handed out to Portsmouth mean that not only have we registered a
much-needed home win against a relegation rival, we have also found ourselves three points clear
outside the drop zone.
The very definition of a relegation six-pointer with two struggling teams in the bottom three going
head to head [...] Read the original post on eighteensixtyfive Find out more about Forest blogs on

I jokingly referred to this mouth-watering fixture as the 'Clash of the Titans' to a friend earlier
in the week. "Clash of the Titans? Clash of the Shite 'uns, more like!" he quickly retorted.
Perhaps not quite up to Oscar Wilde levels of wit, but it tickled me regardless [..] Read the

I don't understand why I support Nottingham Forest. It's pointless and it hurts. Nevertheless, once
we're over this intellectual hurdle it's obvious why I take a calm approach to most aspects of
support, however irrational the initial premise. I can't say the same for all my fellow Trees, mind
you [.
The charity appeal set up to raise money in memory of Nigel Doughty has reached the £4,000 mark in
under two weeks. The tribute, set up by LTLF Forum member Paul Elmore, has been raising money for
ChildLine, one of Mr Doughty's favourite charities. With gift aid included the current total raised
is £4,822.
I didn't catch much of last night's game. The first half was on as I got ready for work, I left 2
minutes before the break, got there to find we'd conceded 2, some subs had been made and the
internet was going apeshit at Steve Cotterill again. I resolved to read up on the match afterwards
instead of try to follow the game because however much we might be an improved squad we're not
going to pull back 2 goals away from home [.
It's sad to have to say this but Steve Cotterill is clearly not capable, even by deploying his
hideous brand of percentages football, of turning this around. I would be delighted, come the end
of the season, to have been proven wrong on this assertion, absolutely thrilled. The final straw
was getting to hear his post match comments this morning: "If we'd kept a clean sheet we would have
won" words defy me [.

your way [...] Read the original post on Pissing Red
After two weekends without a game, it was an emotional return to football at the City Ground as
Forest shared the spoils with Watford. James Bolton reports. Steve Cotterill gave loanees Scott
Wootton, Danny Higginbotham and George Elokobi their debuts while Marlon Harewood and Luke Chambers
returned to the starting line-up.
A vastly improved performance from Reds team with a completely revamped back four, and plenty of
muscle throughout the team [...] Read the original post on eighteensixtyfive
Gunts will probably want to forget his assorted misses today! Nottingham Forest 1 Watford 1 It was
always going to begin an emotional day the first gathering of the Forest family since we lost our
biggest benefactor. Many had like me taken time out pre-match to write in one of [...]
