According to research conducted by Virgin Money, the cost of supporting your favourite football team could land you in debt, an article in The Times says.

Around one in five supporters has fallen into debt simply by paying to watch their favourite team play. Those who have had to take on debt to follow their team have borrowed an average of £682, with around 20% borrowing between £1,000 and £2,500.

After the national side played out a 0-0 draw with the Netherlands followed by a 1-0 victory against Sweden through an early Chiellini goal, Serie A returned at the weekend with the big game found at the Olimpico in Turin between Juventus and Udinese. Juve and Milan would be hoping Inter dropped points against Bologna to maintain their title challenges.

5 Weird and Wonderful Goal Celebrations

This weekend Jimmy Bullard mimicked Phil Brown's ridiculous team talk putting Tanfastic's #1 customer firmly in his place. It's one of the best callbacks I've seen in months so here's a few celebrations that benefit from a bit of background reading.

5. Fowler's "Traditional Cameroonian Grass Eating" Celebration

Gerard Houllier actually tried to claim Rigobert Song had taught Fowler this traditional African celebration after the Liverpool player was fined £60 000 for this celebration.

Not really that special, but if you watch the video you will see that 5 of the goals go straight through the legs of the keeper.

Wigan Player’s Refund Fans

Inthestands.co.uk at related • 0 views

After Sunday's humiliating defeat, the Wigan players have decided to pay back the cost of the ticket to the fans who travelled to White Hart Lane.

In the world of obscene riches that is football, it's refreshing to see this gesture.

"We feel that as a group of players we badly let down our supporters yesterday," said Wigan captain Mario Melchiot

Earlier in the season, Dave Whelan announced that Wigan Athletic would have a few games this season where tickets are free, as a way of paying back the fans for their loyal support.

Pottinger tackles… Henry loves Basketball

Right then, whilst I'm here I might as well sort this shit out.

First things first, I WANT the game to be replayed. Having said that it would be an absolute travesty if FIFA ordered a rematch of the game, as it would set an extremely dangerous precedent in football whereby the result on the pitch isn't final.

Egypt force play-off

Although there were four big play-off games in Europe for us all to watch along with numerous friendlies, possibly the biggest game of the day was held in Cairo between Egypt and Algeria.

A rivalry that goes back to 1989, the intensity leading up to the game today reached fever pitch only a few days ago when the Algerian team bus was attacked by fans with rocks.

Rafa does love his facts…

We all know about Rafa Benitez's press conference last year where he randomly came out with a load of facts despite being unprovoked and we all know that it was the turning point in Liverpool's season as they lost the title that was surely going to Anfield...

Some bright spark at ESPN brought to my attention that their 5 losses in the Premier League this term spells out one of Rafa's favourite words.

A follow up to last weeks advert from a few years later, the Honey Monster now finds himself a reserve goalkeeper for Manchester United in a European fixture...

I'm pretty sure Peter Schmeichel should have been sent off for the foul, instead good ol' Honey Monster gets subbed on and pulls off a blinder of a save Rene Higuita-esque.

The highlight of this weekend's fixtures was the match at the Olimpico in Turin between Juventus and Napoli. However, after a less than impressive start, Roberto Donadoni was sacked and Walter Mazzarri brought in to try and settle the ship.
