Newcastle United Blog Archives for February 2012
Tweeting on his Twitter page, Newcastle United full back, Danny Simpson, has rubbished the recent
media speculation on his negotiations for a new contract. It has been reported that Simpson has
turned down the club's latest contract offer, which has been variously reported as £20,000 per
week with no bonuses and also £25,000 per week.
Newcastle United have been trying to negotiate new contracts with Danny Simpson and Fabricio
Coloccini, so far without any success. We've seen before that the club is prepared to let players
go if they demand what the club thinks is 'too much', so what does the future hold for this pair?
It seems like the [.
In a move which may or may not be coincidental with the kerfuffle over the club's recent stadium
rename, Alan Pardew has told the Sunday Mirror that though Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias have put
the club in a much stronger position finacially, it still needs to bring more sponsorship in. He
also added that [.
Highlights of the game at St James' Park. I shall endeavour to update them with better ones and
post match interviews when they become available. Poll
Newcastle United are unable to finish off Wolves despite taking a two goal lead into half-time.
Goals from Cisse and Jonas in the first half are neutralised by goals from Jarvis and Doyle in the
second. According to one of the commentators on my feed, this match was taking place at the 'First
Direct Arena', [.
Venue: St James' Park. Date: Sat 25th Feb 2011. Kick-Off: 15:00. Referee: Peter Walton. Good
afternoon Geordies and welcome to our regular "match banter" feature for this afternoon's game
against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Well, on one side of argument, Wolves are currently in the
relegation zone and under a caretaker manager with new manager, Terry Connor, [.
Having had a couple of weeks off to banish the ghosts of the 5-0 thumping by Spurs, Newcastle
United hope to get back to winning ways when they host Wolves this weekend. Venue: St James' Park.
Date: Sat 25th Feb 2011. Kick-Off: 15:00. Referee: Peter Walton. This is the second time I've done
a match [.
The renaming of Newcastle United's ground continues to rankle people, this time in parliament where
a Commons motion has been taken out to object to it. Ashley's plans to rename St James' Park after
his T-shirt company have certainly caused a stir, one that stretches as far as House of Commons. 12
MPs have signed [.
With two-thirds of the Premier League season now complete, this author looks at what the final
third might have in store for Newcastle United. We're now into the home stretch the final third of
the 2011/2012 Premier League season. We have no Cup distractions so our only aim is to finish as
high as [.
West Ham owner, "Dirty" David Sullivan (not to be confused with the other West Ham owner, "Dirty"
David Gold), has been spilling some interesting beans of gossip on Demba Ba's Newcastle United
contract to the West Ham fan site "West Ham Till I Die." Sullivan, who of course is one of the
owners of Ba's [.
Newcastle United's current 6th place Premier League position with 2/3rds of the season gone raises
the possibility albeit an outside one of European qualification, but how will we cope if that
happens? I think it's fair to say that Newcastle United have exceeded most people's expectations so
far this season.
"All this was inspired by the principle which is quite true within itself that in the big lie there
is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more
easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily;
and thus in [.
Just as the last of our African players (Cheick Tiote) was returning from the recent Africa Cup of
Nations finals, there was news that Papiss Cissé will have to pack his bags for Africa once more.
Cissé, though not his fellow "Lion of Teranga," Demba Ba, has been selected for to play for
Senegal in [.
It's probably a demonstration of how far we have come in such a short space of time that some
United fans have been decidedly grumpy following the recent setback at Tottenham. That's
understandable. However it's a very short-term view of a one match blip, in what has otherwise been
a highly successful season so far, [.
After Newcastle United's 5-0 thumping at Tottenham on Saturday, silver supremo Alan Pardew has
reflected on his teams defeat and performance at White Hart Lane. Recent quotes attributed to
Mr.Pardew happen to mention the use of formation in recent weeks, which is something I am
interested in venting my thoughts on.
"Jossys Giants" visit Bobby Charlton and Willie McFaul at St James' Park 1985. Aye Bobby Charlton,
not Jackie Charlton who had left the club as manager in the huff over player sales and such before
McFaul stepped in and faced the same old problem. After introducing the Jossy's lads to McFaul the
ex Northern [.
Venue: White Hart Lane. Date: Saturday 11th Feb, 2012. Kick-off: 5.30pm. Referee: Andre Marriner.
For Newcastle United, this was a day to forget started poorly, defended poorly, played poorly"
Those words uttered by Sir Alan Shearer just about summed up this game for us. To be fair, Alan
equally poured lavish praise on the [.
Highlights of the game, not that there were any really for Newcastle United fans in what was a poor
day for the Magpies. I will update these with longer, better highlights and also the post match
interviews when they become availabke.
Venue: White Hart Lane. Date: Saturday 11th Feb, 2012. Kick-off: 5.30pm. Referee: Andre Marriner.
Good afternoon Geordies (or should that be good evening?) and welcome to our regular "match banter"
feature. Today of course we face Tottenham Hotspur away at White Hart Lane. If you read my match
preview you will see from the stats [.
Venue: White Hart Lane, Tottenham. Date: Saturday 11th Feb, 2012. Kick-off: 5.30pm. Referee: Andre
Marriner. It would be tempting to think that Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp had been distracted
by one or two other things this week whilst preparing his 'Spurs squad for this weeks game, but
that would probably be folly.
