Their Words "When you play Italy, you've got to be smart enough to not get involved in some of the
mental sides of the game that they're very smart at. They get you out of your game both
individually and as a team." US National Team alum Brian McBride. Other Sources U.S. team not just
looking for a learning experience against Italy - from SI.

By Tony Edwards - San Jose, CA (Feb 28, 2012) US Soccer Players -- In Tuesday's edition, Tony looks
at Major League Soccer's all-time statistical leaders, Nottingham Forest's league position, and an
upcoming attendance record in Toronto. At the end of this coming MLS season, could Landon Donovan
be the all-time MLS leader in any statistical categories?
By Jason Davis - WASHINGTON, DC (Feb 28, 2011) US Soccer Players -- American soccer is currently in
the midst of a new policy of, for lack of a better word, "openness." Specifically, in regards to
the United States National Team where head coach Jurgen Klinsmann is making every effort to explain
his ideas often and at length to anyone that is willing to listen.
By Clemente Lisi – NEW YORK, NY (Feb 28, 2012) US Soccer Players -- The United States will put
its three-game winning streak on the line Wednesday when it goes up against Italy. The friendly
against the four-time World Cup champions at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris – a place US coach Jurgen
Klinsmann called "a difficult environment" – will be a tough test for the USA ahead of World Cup
Qualifying in June.
Though nothing becomes official without FIFA consent, UEFA and the European Club Association have
reached an understanding on reducing the number of friendlies on the international calendar.
Currently, there are 12 international release dates. The UEFA and ECA agreement calls for nine
international release dates, all of which would have room for two games.
GolTV has the Brazil - Bosnia Herzegovina friendly at 2pm ET.
Their Words "The fans were brilliant. They came out in their thousands and the atmosphere was
brilliant, so all credit to them. They helped inspire a great team performance, although it got a
little nervy towards the end, which can happen away from home, but we clung on." Fulham's Andy
Johnson. Other Sources Tucson courting MLS as spring site - from The LA Times' Kevin Baxter: Only
his idea has nothing to do with baseball.
What's the point of a late winter friendly? You don't need to be a manager of a European club to
imagine their response to that question. Releasing players for friendlies at any time during the
season normally gets a backlash from the club side, but FIFA putting a February 29th date on the
international calendar probably feels like rubbing it in.
By J Hutcherson - WASHINGTON, DC (Feb 27, 2012) US Soccer Players -- Before attempting to turn
another bit of accepted soccer wisdom on its head, let's make one thing clear. It's tough to
grandstand on a League Cup, especially when it took penalties to beat a team playing a league down.
Yet that's where the once mighty Liverpool found themselves on Sunday, using the occasion of a
trophy to talk about bigger and better.
With Timmy Chandler, Jose Torres, and Landon Donovan ruled out for Wednesday's friendly against
Italy (2:30pm ET - ESPN2), United States National Team coach Jurgen Klinsmann has called in Sacha
Kljestan and Brek Shea. Chandler and Torres were injured over the weekend with their clubs, and
Donovan has bronchitis.
AZ's Jozy Altidore grabbed the attention of USA fans over the weekend, scoring twice during
Sunday's 3-3 draw with Heerenveen. Altidore opened the scoring in the 26th minute and scored again
in the 58th with Brett Holman setting up both goals. Heerenveen equalized in the 55th and again in
the 76th, going ahead in the 81st.

GK: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus), Morgan De Sanctis (Napoli), Salvatore Sirigu (Paris Saint
Germain), Emiliano Viviano (Palermo) DEF: Ignazio Abate (AC Milan), Davide Astori (Cagliari),
Federico Balzaretti (Palermo), Andrea Barzagli (Juventus), Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus), Giorgio
Chiellini (Juventus), Domenico Criscito (Zenit St.
Schalke 04 midfielder Jermaine Jones won't be available for the United States due to a right calf
injury, the US Soccer Federation announced on Wednesday. Jones played in the January friendlies for
the USA. Jones's absence reduces the US roster to 20 players available for Wednesday's game against
Italy (2:30pm ET - ESPN2).
CONCACAF announced on Friday that they will hold a presidential election to fill the remainder of
the term vacated by Jack Warner when he retired from soccer last summer. The election will be held
on May 23rd in Budapest, Hungary the day before the start of the 2012 FIFA Congress. Candidates
have to be nominated by a member association by March 25th.

United States.
Their Words "Please allow me, though I may sound repetitive, to stress how much work there is still
ahead of us – and here I mean for the authorities, the host cities and states, and FIFA/LOC."
FIFA's Jerome Valcke on Brazil 2014. Other Sources Chelsea could take lesson from MLS - from
MLSsoccer.com's Jonah Freedman: You don't establish consistency by constantly changing things up.
By Dario Camacho - MIAMI, FL (Feb 24, 2011) US Soccer Players -- For most clubs, the designated
player rule doesn't work. Here's how to fix it. At the 2011 MLS Cup, a Designated Player wish was
fulfilled. A team that spent well past the salary cap was rewarded with the MLS Cup. A monumental
occasion to say the least, tangible proof that spending can mean winning rather than seeing a small
budget club take.
Saturday Chelsea - Bolton 9:30am - Fox Soccer After making his debut in London last week in the FA
Cup against Millwall, Tim Ream could see the big time against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Even
Bolton's manager is being realistic about their chances. Queens Park Rangers - Fulham 10am - Fox
Soccer Plus Clint Dempsey and company get a London derby against a team that bought their striker
during the transfer window.
