Swansea Preview – Five Keys to Victory

Republik Of Mancunia at related • 0 views

In a week that began with United fans having to witness our first dropped points of the season, followed by a blistering start to his Chelsea career from long-term target/non-target, Pedro, we reach the weekend and round four of the Premier League in far greater spirits.

The more impatient among us spent Sunday and Monday lambasting the decisions of both Ed Woodward and Louis van Gaal for failing to add to five earlier additions to the squad, with extra firepower upfront on top of the agenda.

January 20th 2009: I am a big Manchester United fan and have been all my life. All my family are huge United fans. My dad hasn't missed a game for years at Old Trafford. He wouldn't even miss a United match to come and watch me play at Sunderland. So it has always been a dream to play at Manchester United.

When Manchester United signed Sergio Romero, the fans didn't envisage that he would be starting all of our games at the exclusion of David de Gea.

Louis van Gaal concedes that Romero hasn't had much opportunity to deal with the increased physicality of the Premier League yet, but that he is pleased with the job he's done so far.

Daley Blind has dismissed the notion that we play boring football, following us scoring just two goals in the opening three games.

LvG: Fans have to understand we don’t need any new signings

Republik Of Mancunia at related • 0 views

Louis van Gaal has claimed that, despite failing to score against Newcastle yesterday, Manchester United fans should take comfort from the performance and accept we don't need any new additions. United have scored two goals in three games this season, and one of those was an own goal, so the manager still has some way to go before convincing us this squad is good enough to compete.

Don’t let the transfer-window get in the way of the football

Amidst all the insanity of the summer transfer-window, a football season broke out. For a little while Manchester United fans were, if not happy, at least relatively content. Wins against Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, while not particularly thrilling, offered signs of progress.

All the while, however, the threat of further madness bubbled away just beneath the surface, threatening to rear its ugly head at any given moment.

Memphis Depay scored two fantastic goals for Manchester United last night, as well as assisting our third, to give us a great advantage for the second leg.

He should have scored a hattrick though, after a great Luke Shaw run and a Wayne Rooney backheel put it on a plate for him, which is something he was thinking about at the final whistle.

Manchester United's 15/16 campaign began in a much similar vein to many of last season's performances; tense, nail-biting, unconvincing, but, ultimately achieving the correct result. Obviously that is of paramount importance to the side, particularly in the Premier League opener which the manager will hope can provide some much needed momentum, a stark contrast to how the manager's Old Trafford career began last year.
