Paddy McNair made his first team debut at the weekend against West Ham, following a defensive crisis.

Wayne Rooney, who was sent off in the game, has sung the praises of the youngster.

"That was probably one of the bigger tests a young defender can face, up against a team putting in lots of crosses into the box, but he took it and stood up to it, especially in the second half," said Rooney.

The Month: September – The thirst is real

Republik Of Mancunia at related • 0 views

With no Champions League football and domestic cup action not until the new year, a lack of games has culminated into a rather interesting thirst for football in this post-Ferguson era. It must be the one upside of Manchester United either not being that good any more, or us just not knowing whether they are good any more.

"I've looked on the laptop and Kevin Nolan made a good run from deep and put the ball in the net", Allardyce told the BBC. "Unfortunately for us, the assistant saw something we didn't. It's unfortunate when you've worked so hard to get back in the game."

According to Law 11 of the game, "a player is in an offside position if he is nearer to his opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second last opponent" and that "consideration should be given to any part of the head, body or feet of the attacker", as a player can score a goal with any of these parts.

Is United’s focus on youth a “myth”?

Injuries have played a huge part at the beginning of the campaign, which has contributed heavily to early shortcomings, but with the likes of Herrera and Shaw returning to fitness as well as the impact of Di Maria, Blind, Rojo and Falcao, we certainly look a much more balanced outfit.
