BREAKING NEWS: Rafa Benitez Canonized (humour)

Liverpool Kop at related • 0 views
Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has become the living person in human history to be accorded the honour of Sainthood.

Pope Benedict XVI presided over a special canonization service for Saint Benitez earlier today at St Peter's Basilica at the Vatican. Led by 'Cardinals' from RAWK - the Church of Rafa Benitez - Tens of thousands of his devoted disciples made the pilgrimage to Vatican City to witness this remarkable historical event.

Well said, Roy! How Liverpool FC has wasted £170m on 'expensive failures' over the years

Hot on the heels of NESV's recent statement about being 'smart' in the transfer market, Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has blasted LFC's transfer record, specifically highlighting how, historically, much of the the club's transfer funding has been mismanaged, a point I have been arguing for years.

Earlier in the week, John W Henry, NESV's principal backer, made it clear that he was not impressed with LFC's current transfer policy:

"We have to be more efficient.

Rafa Benitez vs. Alex Ferguson - *Gross/Net transfer spending comparison* (2004-2010)

Liverpool Kop at related • 6 views
How does Rafa Benitez's transfer spending during his entire reign (2004- 2010) compare to Alex Ferguson's spending at Manchester United over the same period?

I recently posted an article focusing on Benitez's transfer spending stats, and predictably (and amusingly) the Pro-Benitez Net Spend Cult triumphantly focused only on net spend as an indicator of his transfer market success.

LFC POINTS DEDUCTION: How this site got it right again (and refused to jump on the doom bandwagon)

Liverpool Kop at related • 0 views
During the latter stages of the Hicks and Gillett era, the doom and gloom brigade (led by LFC websites) was collectively foaming at the mouth over the (aparently inevitable) 9 point deduction that was heading the club's way. Amid this ridiculous negative hysteria, this site was the *only* source either on or offline that consistently argued that administration was never going to happen.

RAFA BENITEZ: *Gross/Net Spend* figures during the Hicks and Gillett era

Using figures taken directly from the club's accounts (i.e. the ONLY accurate figures avialble), I examine Rafa Benitez's transfer spending during the ownership reign of Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

Earlier in the week, I wrote an article looking at the veracity of Tom Hicks' claim that he and Gillett had spent £300m on players.

TOM HICKS interview analysis: Part 2 - Did H+G really spend £300m on transfers?

Liverpool Kop at related • 1 view
In part 2 of this new series analysing Tom Hicks' recent statement, I look at his contentious transfer spending claims: did Liverpool really have a net spend of £150m under Hicks and Gillett?

CONTRADICTION?

In his recent interview with Sky Sports, Hicks stated the following:

"We spent over 300 million dollars gross on players, about 150 million net on players, but you never hear that in the media; it always kind of disappears in all the noise and anger.

The 'Liverpool Way'? A perfect example of the difference between BENITEZ + PURSLOW

Liverpool Kop at related • 1 view
Rafa Benitez has today launched yet another (unprovoked) veiled attack on Christian Purslow, LFC's managing Director. This comes as no surprise to me given his previous penchant for public politicking, but Benitez's latest public diatribe perfectly illustrates the fundamental difference between the two men, and it's the reason Purslow is still at the club, and Benitez is not.

TOM HICKS interview analysis: Part 1 - Did H+G really put $270m into Liverpool FC?

Liverpool Kop at related • 1 view
In his recent interview with Sky Sports, former Liverpool owner Tom Hicks made a series of statement relating to his tenure at the club. In this new series, I will examine the veracity of his claims, using documentary evidence where possible.

I have no allegiance to Hicks, Gillett, or indeed anyone at LFC.

Debunking Liverpool FC myths: No 8 – Top 10 transfer fee myths/inaccuracies

Liverpool Kop at related • 0 views
Given the confidential nature of player contracts, real transfer fee levels are rarely released into the public domain. This leads to guesswork and supposition on a grand scale, which leads to lots of inaccurate figures floating around. Here are the some of the glaring inaccuracies currently accepted as gospel.

Debunking Liverpool FC myths: No 7 – Christian Purslow sacked Rafa Benitez

Liverpool Kop at related • 0 views
Until recently, a section of Liverpool fans (led by the Pro-Benitez Cult) had been engaged in a vicious witch-hunt against LFC Managing Director Christian Purslow. That campaign was founded on a number of baseless arguments, chief of which was the notion that the scheming, Machiavellian Purslow was solely responsible for ‘sacking' Rafa Benitez.

Q. Is it Liverpool Football Club and Athletics Grounds Ltd (LFCAGL) that has been sold, or is Kop Holdings Ltd (KFL)?

RBS + Liverpool FC vs. HICKS: FAQ - Who has the right to do what?

Liverpool Kop at related • 0 views
The ongoing saga of Liverpool's ownership situation has reached fever pitch today! The deadline for LFC's loan repyment to RBS is fast approaching; the Texas injunction filed by Hicks and Gillett has been (allegedly) overturned; and there are rumours that Tom Hicks is trying to sell his shares in the club to Mill Financial.

"Absolute poppycock!" - Comedy gold from Liverpool's FC's Barristers

For the second time this week, the High Court has ruled in favour of Liverpool FC in the ongoing fight for the club's future. Along the way, there have been some classic soundbytes from the Barristers representing LFC and RBS. It's probably just me but I find condemnatory put-downs from upper crust lawyers really funny; I just wish I'd been there to hear them in person.

H+G's loans to LFC: 'The Guardian' vindicates my story, then backtracks. Here's why...

Liverpool Kop at related • 0 views
Earlier this week, I posted an Exclusive detailing how the World's Press got it wrong over the amount of money loaned by Tom Hicks and George Gillett to Liverpool FC. Earlier today, journalist David Conn posted an article on The Guardian's website specifically validating my story, and conceding that the my argument was correct.

SOS, RAWK + EOTK: Please publicly APOLOGISE to Purslow + Broughton for your ignorant witch-hunt

Liverpool Kop at related • 0 views
Over the last few months, Christian Purslow and Martin Broughton have been the victims of a senseless witch-hunt led by three LFC websites: Spirit of Shankly (SOS), Red and White Kop (RAWK), and Empire of the Kop (EOTK). This concentrated campaign of lies, ridicule and character assassination has had absolutely no foundation in fact, and has been underpinned by breathtaking ignorance, deliberate malice and irretrievable stupidity.

FAO of RORY SMITH @ The Telegraph: You say H+G loaned LFC £144m. PROVE IT.

Liverpool Kop at related • 0 views
Earlier, I posted an article that categorically proved that the world's Press had got it wrong over the amount of money lent to Liverpool FC by Tom Hicks and George Gillett. When asked whether the figure was accurate, Rory Smith, a Journalist from The Telegraph, proceeded to slag off this site (unprovoked), stating the amount was actually £144m.

EXCLUSIVE: H+G and the £144m LFC loans - How the world's press got it WRONG

Liverpool Kop at related • 0 views
According to the media, Tom Hicks and George Gillett have invested £144m into Liverpool FC since 2007, and that is the figure they apparently stand to lose if the sale to NESV goes through. £144m is the magic number, and it has been repeated in almost every newspaper, blog and news program worldwide over the last couple of weeks.

LFC POINTS DEDUCTION: The legal position (and why it's not likely to happen)

Liverpool Kop at related • 0 views
Sensationalised reports have surfaced again recently regarding the possibility Liverpool could suffer a 9 point deduction if the club is forced into administration this week. In this article, I'll look at the legal basis for that possibility, and explore whether it is actually likely to happen.

Media reports arguing that Liverpool now face a possible points deduction are based on speculation, not fact.

Broughton vs. Hicks: The current LFC legal situation examined (with evidence)

Liverpool Kop at related • 1 view
Liverpool fans are on a cautious high at the moment - it finally looks like Tom Hicks and George Gillett may be ousted from the club; a dreaded points deduction is off the table, and new owners are waiting in the wings to take over. However, at this stage, the sale is merely pending - there is a major legal conflict to overcome, and having examined the legal document that Liverpool Chairman Martin Broughton is using to validate the sale, I have to say that things are not as cut and dried as they seem.

What a shock! LFC's new AMERICAN owners ignoring SOS. Never saw that coming...

Liverpool Kop at related • 0 views
You couldn't make it up. In a statement released a couple of days ago, SOS expressed their disappointment that LFC's new American owners had not been in contact to ‘engage' with them. They're kidding, right?!

There have been several amusing/ironic things about the Liverpool sale so far (Fan hypocrisy over Christian Purslow; LFC fan websites getting it so wrong for so long about the debt/the motives of LFC hierarchy), but this has to be the funniest.

BRAVO! How dim-witted Liverpool fans played right into the hands of Hicks +Gillett

Liverpool Kop at related • 0 views
The tragic irony of Liverpool fans' shameful, unwarranted character assassination of Christian Purslow has become clear tonight with news that Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett are trying to oust him from the board in order to facilitate their refinancing plan.

As I have tried to explain countless times in the past, the self-evident truth is that Purslow has always had the best interests of Liverpool FC at heart.

Dirk Kuyt and the Curse of the Barren Spell: PART 2 - The Barren Spell Strikes Back

Liverpool Kop at related • 0 views
Last season, I illustrated (with evidence) how Dirk Kuyt's regular barren spells had (historically) had a negative impact on Liverpool FC's attacking effectiveness. This season, it's more of the same so far, and whilst he's admitted he's 'sorry' for LFC's bad form, that's just not good enough, from him or Liverpool's other senior players.

Liverpool FC in the relegation zone? Big deal. It means absolutely nothing

Liverpool Kop at related • 0 views
The media is making a huge deal out of the fact that Liverpool are currently in the relegation zone. All the usual ‘Liverpool in crisis' BS is being wheeled out, and Concern is definitely warranted, but any reasonable person knows that being in the bottom 3 at this stage of the season means practically nothing.

Sorry, but still I’m not jumping on the Liverpool FC 'apocalypse' bandwagon

Liverpool Kop at related • 0 views
A few days ago, I suggested that things would probably get worse for LFC before they got better, and that we'd probably see a few more disappointing results in the next couple of months. Well, this has come to pass, and to be honest, given the context of the season so far, I expected a poor result against Blackpool.

So, it’s Hodgson, Hicks, Gillett, Purslow, Broughton + Ayres OUT. How about FANS OUT instead?

Liverpool Kop at related • 0 views
According to a minority of ignorant Liverpool fans, everyone in the club's hierarchy needs to be run out of Anfield. Apparently, they're all devious; lying; scheming; doing their best to destroy the club; only in it for themselves etc. Hicks and Gillett aside, there is no evidence that the likes of Purslow and Broughton (or anyone else) has done anything negative against the club, but that doesn't stop certain fans making things up and inexplicably demonising certain people connected with LFC.

I hate the S*n, but the poisonous LFC Anti-S*n Cult are such obnoxious hypocrites

Liverpool Kop at related • 0 views
Like all Liverpool fans, I hate The S*n newspaper, and if anyone asked me I would explain why and urge that person not to read that rag. However, there is a subset of Liverpool FC fans who are like a brainwashed cult when it comes to The S*n, attempting to browbeat and demonise anyone who (even inadvertently) has anything to do with The S*n.

So, Jovanovic wants out? LET HIM GO, along with anyone else who can't hack it.

Liverpool Kop at related • 0 views
A mere two months after signing for Liverpool FC, Milan Jovanovic has publicly stated that he'll leave the club if things ‘do not sort themselves out'. With this kind of attitude (shared by certain other vacillating players) I would argue it is he who needs to sort *himself* out.

Jovanovic's comments were reported by The Press Association (A hugely reliable source).
