one of the most recognizable and distinguished players of his era.
To anybody out there who has ever doubted that one should never believe a word that comes out of
the mouth of a player when it is contract renegotiation time, there is this: Wayne Rooney, all over
the soccer news this week after it emerged that he wants to leave Manchester United because he
believes them to be a club in decline, has signed a new contract that will keep him there until
2015.
The National Soccer Hall of Fame contains a number of famous names and memorabilia (over 80,000 to be exact), but since February 2010, has had no home to call its own.
While inductions continue -the USSF announced this year the inductions of Tony Meola, Claudio Reyna, Tony DiCicco, and Desmond Armstrong – a physical location where fans can share in their successes and stories ceases to exist.
Last week prior to the USA vs. Brazil game four U.S. Soccer legends were inducted into the National
Soccer Hall of Fame. Claudio Reyna, Tony Meola, Desmond Armstrong and Tony DiCicco were honored in
a ceremony at FedEx Field. Longtime Los Angeles Times soccer writer Grahame L. Jones was also
recognized as the recipient of the 2012 Colin Jose Media Award.
The 2012 National Soccer Hall of Fame induction ceremony was held at FedExField Wednesday night,
and USA vs. Brazil provided the perfect setting. It doesn't get much better than a huge game
against a legendary team to set the stage for the induction of several U.S. Soccer legends into the
Hall of Fame.
Prior to Wednesday night's match between the U.S. men's national team and Brazil, a quartet of
individuals who helped build the foundation for both men's and women's soccer in this country will
receive their due.
Claudio Reyna, Tony Meola, Desmond Armstrong and Tony DiCicco will be inducted into the National
Hall of Fame, and longtime journalist Grahame Jones will be honored as well, at a ceremony at
FedEx Field before the friendly.

Yesterday was MLS roster compliance day and a few cut were made. Most notable is probably Lee
Nguyen, who was a Vancouver Whitecaps player for less than four months, none of which had a game.
Players will be selected in today's waiver draft. For the most part these aren't players who will
make differences on seasons though.
It started with the USWNT's 5–0 demolition of Denmark in their opening game in the Algarve
Cup. It continued with the USMNT's historic 1–0 win over Italy in Italy. It ended with the USMNT
U-23s convincing 2–0 win over Mexico's U-23s. Three-for-three with three shutouts in one
day—surely that's never happened before in US Soccer.
Something extremely fishy went down in Bahrain today as they needed to win, have Qatar lose, and
overcome a -8 goal differential to advance in Asian World Cup qualifying. And in the dying moments
of their games Bahrain were up 10-0 with Qatar losing 2-1. Do you think authorities won't be
looking into match fixing allegations?
Claudio Reyna and Tony Meola have been elected to the National Soccer Hall of Fame along with
veteran inductee Desmond Armstrong and builder inductee Tony DiCicco. Reyna and Meola are both
first-ballot inductees, with Armstrong rounding out the group of three US National Soccer Team
Players to receive the highest honor in American professional soccer.
I'm in the "D'oh!" camp, but just barely, just one foot, since Sermanni is much more welcomed in my eyes than, let's say, Tony DiCicco. Can you imagine. Tony effin' DiCicco again, with all his lack of creativity and stupid American accent.
Raymon Gaddis named to SBI All-Rookie Best XI. Williams on not playing final games of the season: "It sucks." Tom Sermanni names as new USWNT coach. MLS ranks 7th in the world for attendance. Knockout games begin. More news

No need to reinvent the wheel so we will simply state the obvious, the U.S. Women have played
better than expected so far this World Cup and are in the perfect position to coast into the

coach Tony DiCicco selling, Sunil Gulati announced appointed April Heinrichs as the Technical
Director and Jill Ellis as the Development Director for the U.S. Women's National Teams.
In an interview with National Soccer Examiner DiCicco rightfully called out U.
Hoffman just wants to score goals. Keon Daniel scores a cracker for Trinidad & Tobago. Left back jinx continues with USMNT as Johnson and Castillo unavailable for Friday qualifier. More news.

After scoring in the 120th minute on Sunday to knock Washington Freedom out of the WPS Playoffs,
the Philadelphia Independence made it easier on themselves in Thursday's 2–1 victory over the

They scored the game winning goal in the 103rd minute.
The Super Semifinal match was a thriller from start to finish, featuring a great deal of open

I honestly can't believe the 2010 WPS Draft is behind us, the NSCAA Convention is over and the
season is just around the corner.
This is another WPS post, but I wanted to hit some other stuff first.
Chapka may be on to something, even though I couldn't naviagate the Buff site to save my life, and
I couldn't figure out from the diagram how to make the pirate headband.

For any fan of US Soccer, specifically the US Women's National team, the name Tony DiCicco holds
plenty of clout. So, when L.E. Eisenmenger of the U.S. Soccer Examiner posted her interview with
highly respected former USWNT head coach Tony DiCicco where he gave his blunt evaluation of player
development in the United States many fans, coaches, and bloggers paid attention.
Originally, I was going to post some more on strikes, failed mediations, and shattered dreams.
Well, at least the first two. The broken dreams part was the remnant of listening to Eighties radio
this morning. Oh, Eighties music: it's all fun and games 'til Johnny Hates Jazz camps himself in
your brain for the morning.
