With just a few weeks left in the Major League Soccer regular season, Chicago Fire defender Austin Berryseems to have emerged as the favorite for the "Rookie of the Year" award.

John Hackworth made his first major transfer move since taking over as interim head coach,
sending Lionard Pajoy and an international roster spot to D.C. United in exchange for Danny
Cruz.
The Union make three teams for Cruz in the last year, since the Houston Dynamo dealt him to
United for allocation money.
An Glenn Davis article with tidbits on Cameron and Oscar Boniek. OBG "is likely to debut this
Saturday against the Philadelphia Union." While the "rumored transfer fee" for Cameron is "between
2 and 2.5 million." (Glenn Davis Soccer)
BBVA Compass holding up "surprisingly well" after a rugby games and six soccer matches.
The Philadelphia Union addressed a glaring need by adding a veteran center back with a
successful history in Major League Soccer.
According to a report on FOX Soccer, by Ives Galarcep of Soccer By Ives, the Union acquired
Bakary Soumare, formerly of the Chicago Fire. Soumare was a nominee for MLS Defender of the Year in
2008, when the Fire only gave up 33 goals in 30 games and finished second in the Eastern
Conference.
I know the transfer window doesn't open until tomorrow, but I've had some time to dig into this
Geoff Cameron interest story originally broken at Soccer By Ives (like so many of you have pleaded)
and here's the skinny: Houston should expect a couple few offers in the coming days. For reals.
This is not a drill.
For the first time this MLS season all 19 teams are playing in this round.

My apologies as real-life got in the way of my post on the RBNY vs Chivas USA game from this
past Wednesday. What's there to say except that RBNY had a chance at making history (6 wins in a
row) but fell just short. Second half goals from Chivas USA forward Juan Pablo Angel, making his
triumphant return to RBA, and Kenny F'ng Cooper saw a "share of the spoils", if you will.

Toronto FC is making big roster clearing moves that one would assume means new players are on their
way. Today money-drain Julian de Guzman was shipped off to FC Dallas in exchange for cheap
youngster Andrew Weidman, while last week the team cut Nick Soolsma and loaned out Joao Plata.
The final 2 MLS teams joined the US Open Cup action last night and again their success rate was
only 50% as Portland was taken down by amateur team Cal FC managed by Eric Wynalda in one of the
biggest upsets in modern Open Cup history! Seattle, who bought their home game, got the win over
Atlanta Silverback of the NASL.

Good morning everyone! It's the middle of a bye week for the Revolution, so you'd expect news to
be slow, but honestly there's more out there than I expected. Also, we've got the Euros starting on
Friday, which is also the day that the USMNT takes on Antigua & Barbuda in their first World Cup
2014 Qualifier.
Is it Saturday yet? No? Ugh. Well, might as well read about soccer in the meantime. Here's some

Depth to be tested as Revs prep for demanding stretch - revolutionsoccer.
With the New England Revolution getting the weekend off after losing to FC Dallas Thursday
night, news in Revsland has slowed to almost a standstill. It was a busy weekend overseas, though,
with Revs alum Clint Dempsey scoring a stunner against Fulham and several other US players abroad
making their marks on the scoresheet.
If you had told any New England Revolution fans two weeks ago that they would be coming home
after a two-match road trip to LA and Dallas with three points, most of those fans would have been
ecstatic. Either that, or they might have called you crazy. However, after a home win against
Portland and an impressive away victory against Los Angeles, fans and team alike walked into Dallas
thinking that they had a chance at another three points.
Great memory from opening day in KC last week: Guy standing next to me dressed very regular during
first half. Leaves at halftime. Comes back for start of 2nd half in brand new Sporting jersey, hat

accent.
What a day yesterday was! Not only did the United States Men's National Team earn their
first-ever victory over Italy (in Italy, no less), but the New England Revolution, fielding
mostly reserves and trialists, conquered Real Salt Lake 2-1 and advanced to the Desert Diamond Cup
Final. Furthermore, the US Women's National Team crushed Denmark 5-0, and the USA Olympic U-23
squad beat Mexico 2-0.
I don't have anything to say about soccer right now that I haven't already ranted about in the comments and the match thread, so without further ado, here's today's news.
