After recently revealing that Italian champions Juventus will no longer be playing D.C. United in the 2012 Herbalife World Football Challenge on July 28, the MLS club has announced French giants Paris St. Germain as the replacements.

PSG, who finished second in Ligue 1 last season after building a star-studded roster that features the likes of Javier Pastore, Diego Lugano, Mathieu Bodmer, and Jeremy Menez, will kick-it off against United at the RFK Stadium at 7:30 EST.

With Juventus withdrawing from the 2012 Herbalife World Football Challenge, MLS announced the clubs that would take their place on the tour. DC United will host Paris St Germain at RFK on July 28th and Real Madrid will now be playing Mexico's Santos Laguna in Las Vegas on August 5th. The Montreal game has been cancelled.

First of all, apologies for being away a while. Busy time of year for all of us the last few weeks and life gets in the way. This time of year the game domestically really starts to get exciting with the MLS Combine, followed by the Superdraft and NSCAA Convention before clubs head into their respective pre-seasons.

Over the last couple of years, teams in MLS have been landing jersey sponsors at a rapid clip. Yet in the last few months, the pace of signing these deals has slowed considerably. Whether for reasons of economy or a desire to spend sports dollars on other opportunities, companies have been less willing to commit money to sponsor jerseys.

The LA Galaxy and Herbalife have agreed on a 10-year-$44 million sponsorship contract extension that will keep the nutrition company as the MLS team's jersey sponsor. The Herbalife brand name will continue to be featured prominently across the front of the Galaxy's jersey as it has been since 2007.
