Just as in last year's Re-Entry Draft, the 2012 stage two round went fast and furious with loads of surprising picks all around. Some clubs passed on selecting anyone at all while the LA Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes went a couple rounds deep to pick up depth for the 2013 season.

After taking a point on the road at Columbus, Philadelphia returned home to PPL Park to take on Toronto FC, and two familiar faces. Former Union captain Danny Califf and 2011 Supplemental Draft Pick Ryan Richter had taken their talents north of the border; Richter would enter in the seventh minute for an injured Darel Russell, while Califf would not see the field.

The holiday season... not only a time for crippling credit card debt, drunken office shenaniganism and inappropriate uncles but also for staring aimlessly at the television machine. Yes, it's that time of the year when regularly scheduled programming is interrupted by holiday specials that have been on loop since 1971.

"Hello Anywhere But!"  If this move works out then it may be one of the more shrewd bits of business that Toronto FC has pulled off in recent history. If it goes pear-shaped then it could mark the introduction to the next disgruntled member of your Eff Cees. With the 1st Overall pick in today's MLS Re-Entry Draft (Round 2: Electric Boogaloo) The Reds selected CB Danny Califf - that same Danny Califf who famously begged Philadelphia not to trade him to Toronto last summer.

With stage 2 of the Re-Entry Draft, MLS teams were able to select players who were released by their clubs earlier this month and renegotiate their contracts down from their current salaries. It's pretty much MLS's answer to "free agency" within the league as players still don't have free movement between clubs.

Danny Califf, Conor Casey and Will Hesmer were among the 14 players selected in Stage Two of the MLS Re-Entry Draft on Friday.

Califf and Casey were both selected in the first round, with Toronto FC picking up Califf with the first pick and Philadelphia Union taking Casey four spots later.

The Philadelphia Union were forced to place goalkeeper Chase Harrison on the Major League Soccer Re-Entry Draft availability list for a second straight year, due to the process' rules, but he isn't the only player with ties to the team who is available.

Also listed are former captain Danny Califf, former fellow central defender Shavar Thomas and former starting striker Alejandro Moreno.

At the time, it seemed to many Portland Timbers fans a fairly reasonable trade for both sides. Neither player had done much for their teams in the current year, and a change of scenery might have helped all parties.

In fact, the Philadelphia Union might have been seen as having had a slight advantage, unloading an inconsistent striker very expensive for his age, while gaining an experienced Colombian striker to line up alongside his countryman, Lionard Pajoy.

Maybe you found out on May 13th. Maybe it was May 16th when the announcement was made official by the Philadelphia Union.

Either way, in mid-May, 2012, our captain, and original member of the Union, Danny Califf, was traded to Chivas USA by our former manager, Peter Nowak.

There will always be rumors about why Danny was moved to Chivas.

It is hard to write about the game today. In style and tactics it was on the rough and ready side. I thought the ref (Sorin Stoica is the fellow) was card happy in the second half and had lost control of the game. Unless you consider giving Philly every opportunity to get back into it as controlling the game.

The bad news - Stefan Frei's noseholes are broken. The good news? Maybe The Goalblerone has gotten his annual injury out of the way early and it's smooth sailing (but not breathing) ahead. The news is official now that Frei's schnoz did in fact lose the kitchen stadium battle of Boot v Face and he will have to go under the rhinoplasty knife on Tuesday to correct it.

With Calen Carr's injury being confirmed as a torn ACL, the Houston Dynamo will likely look in several places for a viable replacement.

The first option will come this Friday at noon as the MLS will hold the 2012 Re-Entry Draft. Players listed as available below could still opt out of the draft if they can come to terms on an agreement with their current club.

Major League Soccer released the list of 63 players available in the Re-Entry Draft (Noon, Friday). Three Seattle Sounders are on the list, all due to their options being declined - keeper Andrew Weber, midfielder/defender Mike Seamon and forward O'Brian White. The Sounders still hold their rights and could be re-signed by the club prior to the draft date.
